What made you happy today?

Self explanatory, I think. What made me happy today was an Easter egg in the shape of a cheerful looking lion.

I LOVE THIS THREAD

So many things today! Had soft-boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast, then spent an hour and a half chatting with various family members on our Sunday Zoom Coffee Morning, then NBD and I went for a lovely walk for an hour or so in the woods and along the Hamble foreshore, then we had a lunch of cheese and olives and pickles in the garden, then I cooked up some leftovers into a tapas-y thing and now I am on the forum.

*breathes*

EGGS AND SOLDIERS!

I haven't had eggs and soldiers in far too long.

Neither had I!! SO GOOD.

I had my Sunday morning skype chat with Beek, followed by a bit of reading, Animal Crossing and a board game that wasn't too painful. This was accompanied by a BLT (minus the L), Easter candy and homemade oatmeal peanut butter chocolate chip Reese's Pieces cookies.

I finally got to see the pikachu movie because Hulu is doing free HBO stuff for unknown reasons, then I sat out on the porch with the cats reading for about three hours, uninterrupted by the typical loud lawn and power tools my neighbours are so fond of. It was sunny and warm but also breezy. Quite perfect, really.

I made a tiny version of Easter dinner and everything turned out edible!

This was yesterday but I could not find this thread yesterday so whatevs. ANYWAY. There are bluebirds actually nesting in my backyard this year, and they either have eggs or bebbehs (I think eggs because very quiet). I've seen the male carrying worms into the house over the last few days.

Today's happy is my sister, who is delivering things from work so I don't have to shower and leave my house.

Baby bluebirds sounds SO cute.

This is kind of bittersweet, but I'm happy that I asked the wifi engineer how they were doing, because apparently no one ever does. They actually got a bit flustered because they weren't used to being asked, people apparently are just so fixated on getting their internet fixed that they forget the engineer is also a person.

Ask people how they're doing, people!

My work has redeemed itself (somewhat) by giving me a movie and £15 in amazon vouchers as a thank you for keeping them from drowning lately. Which is nice.

That is nice! It's always good to know your workplace notices how much work you're doing, even if they're also huge pains in the ass.

It is! In fairness, my immediate bosses are generally pretty appreciative, they're just not the ones in charge of the purse strings.

I don't have a purse, but if I did it would have all kinds of string in there which I would refer to as my purse strings.

And then if you're ever out in company is like "So I can see who holds the purse strings, eh?" You can go all WIDE EYED and pull from your purse ALL THE STRINGS

That would be so worth carrying strings around in my purse for a decade until the right moment came.

The question though might be: once the moment comes and you unleash the big payoff - do you keep carrying the strings?

I suppose it probably depends on the payoff. If the incredulity of my interlocutor is satisfying enough, then hell yeah! I'll wait another decade for the next chance.

Honestly the only thing keeping me from putting string in my purse right now is that I have no string.
